Spring Clean your Home this Easter

30th March 2017

Now that Spring has arrived, it’s time to think about giving your home a good clear out. For most people, the Easter weekend is the perfect time to do this, as there's an extra bank holiday to make use of. However, without a clear plan for the weekend that extra time can easily be wasted by procrastinating over which tasks to tackle first. In the following blog post, we've put together some top tips to help you prepare for your Easter clean, including which spaces to dive into first.

Create a plan

Like everything in life, a good plan will make your spring cleaning process much more efficient and you will likely get more done. If you make a list of all the areas of your home that you want to get clean, you can allocate time to each space accordingly, making sure that you get through all the areas you planned. It can also be useful to list out the cleaning products that you will need when tackling your spring cleaning tasks, so that these are pre-bought and easy to reach. But which areas should be a priority when you're spring cleaning? Read on...

Places you should clean

There are plenty of areas around the home that you should plan on spring cleaning, focusing particularly on areas of your home that don’t get cleaned as often as others. By and large, some of the major areas of your home that could do with a clean include:

Kitchen - This might seem like a strange suggestion as you will no doubt clean your kitchen fairly regularly, but there are plenty of areas that you don’t. This will include the back of cupboards and appliances such as the dishwasher, the refrigerator, and the oven. All of these could do with cleaning out.

Carpets and Upholstery - This is the perfect time of year to deep clean carpets and other upholstery around the home, as these are some of the most neglected areas throughout the rest of the year. Your curtains, sofa covers, and cushion covers can all be washed, and you can hire a steam-cleaner to tackle your carpets.

Windows - The chances are, you don’t consider cleaning your windows in the winter as the weather is usually wet anyway. But during the summer, the build-up of dirt and grime on the windows can become much more noticeable. Give them a clean and you will notice your home looking brighter!

Clear Clutter - It can also be the perfect time of year for you to clear clutter in your home and get rid of things that you don’t need anymore. There are bound to be plenty of belongings that you don’t have any use for but have yet to throw away, so have a good clear out.

Get the family involved

The above areas are just some suggestions of areas of your home that could do with spring cleaning, but there will no doubt be more areas of your home to clean. Such a large task doesn’t need to be undertaken on your own, though, and you should make sure that you involve the rest of the family to make the job easier. If you assign everyone a task then you can all help out with the cleaning and get things done quicker.

If you have a lot of clutter or belongings you can't get rid of, then why not consider self storage. Make Space can provide the perfect solution to meet your needs.
