Spring Cleaning Checklist

After a long winter stuck at home due to various lockdowns, the time has come to start spring cleaning and preparing for brighter days (physically and metaphorically!). 

Sometimes deep cleaning your house can feel like an overwhelming experience, and it’s difficult to know what to do in each room, or where to start. Our cleaning checklist template can help make spring cleaning that bit more relaxing with a room-by-room guide to cleaning your home.

Read on to make the most out of your spring clean this year with our spring cleaning checklist.


Kitchen

  • Deep clean your oven, stovetop, microwave and other appliances

  • Throw away old/expired food from your cupboards, fridge and freezer

  • Mop the floors (move the fridge and mop behind it, too)

  • Remove items and wash the insides of your cabinets

  • Deep clean the inside of your fridge and freezer, and wash the outside

  • Dust high surfaces- tops of cabinets, fridge etc

  • Reorganise cabinets, and make the most of your storage space

  • Wipe walls and sanitise surfaces

  • Polish any silverware

  • Empty and wash out bins


Living Room

  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets

  • Dust and polish furniture, and wash any mirrors/ decorative items

  • Vacuum any upholstered furniture such as sofas and chairs

  • Wash blankets and pillows

  • Wash windows and clean window sills

  • Dust blinds, curtain rods and lamp shades

  • Clean curtains.

  • Clean out the fireplace


Bedroom

  • Wash bedding- including sheets, blankets and throw pillows

  • Flip your mattress

  • Vacuum carpets

  • Dust and polish furniture and surfaces

  • Wash windows and clean window sills

  • Dust blinds, curtain rods and lamp shades

  • Clean curtains

  • Organise your bedroom

  • Store or donate items you don’t use regularly

Bathroom

  • Wash bath mats and towels

  • Clean the bathtub and shower

  • Replace shower curtain

  • Thoroughly clean both the inside and outside of the toilet

  • Unclog drains and clean showerhead

  • Wipe down mirrors and similar surfaces

  • Mop floors

  • Clean makeup brushes, and discard any expired products

  • Scrub tile grout

  • Empty any bins

  • Organise your bathroom

Office

  • Shred and recycle any unneeded paperwork and organise the rest

  • Dust and polish furniture and surface

  • Clean computer and monitor, and sanitise keyboard and mouse

  • Clean out and organise file cabinets

  • Backup or delete any old files on the computer

  • Refill office supplies such as pens or paper


Around the house

  • Check and change the batteries in smoke alarms/carbon monoxide detectors

  • Check lightbulbs and replace as required

  • Store any winter items such as clothes or decorations

  • Disinfect regularly touched objects such as door handles or light switches

  • Remove any cobwebs

  • Dust doors and doorframes

  • Dust light fixtures

  • Clean baseboards in all rooms


Outside

  • Clean outdoor lights and fixtures

  • Clean out drains

  • Trim trees and bushes

  • Wash down and clean any outdoor furniture

  • Wash windows

  • Pressure wash the exterior of the house, and any decking, steps or walkways

  • Touch up paint if required

  • Replace any broken bricks or paving slabs
